Airport/Negombo

Negombo situated by the shores of a lagoon by the same name. It was once a trading port for Portuguese and Dutch, and often referred to as Little Rome by the locals. It is an ideal place for those who want quick access to and from the airport, and favoured by many tourists for its convenience after arriving in the country or just before departing.
The Dutch Fort Gate, which was built in 1672, was once part of the Colonial Prison Complex. The ruins of the gate and the old prison are now what’s left behind! The Dutch Canals, which was then a supply route for the Dutch administration, are still being used today and a great attraction for those who want to see Negombo from a different perspective. Take in the sights, as well as the old churches and fishing village by using the 100km long canal running through the town.
Balapitiya /Galle
Explore the Madu Ganga (River) on a Boat Cruise and explore the Mangrove Forest in Balapitiya. It is Sri Lanka’s largest wetland with a Mangrove forest that is home to over 303 types of flora and foliage stemming from 95 plant genres living along with 248 species of vertebrate animals.
Take a tour around the Galle Fort taking in the sights and architectural features of the fort, the quaint shops and eateries and more. Built in 1588 by Portuguese, then extensively fortified by the Dutch during 17th Century from 1649 onwards. The Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and now a bustling tourist attraction.

The Colombo Fort has been transformed in recent years into a popular tourist destination, such as the Colombo Dutch Hospital (which is considered the oldest building in the Colombo Fort. At Sea Street, the Goldsmiths quarters in the heart of Pettah, and the Bazaar area, you will be able to shop for unique trinkets to take back home. You can also visit the BMICH (the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall) that is also home to the Bandaranaike Museum), see the replica of Avukana Buddha & the Independence Square.
From buzzing bazaars to stylish boutique outlets, Colombo is increasingly becoming a popular shopping destination within Asia. ODEL is one Sri Lanka’s most famous shopping destinations, a growing department store in the centre of town. You are able to purchase western-label clothes sold at a fraction of overseas prices. Other Colombo shopping attractions include homeware stores like Paradise Road, Suriya and Gandhara, whereas Saffron Villas is popular for antique furniture and trinkets, and Barefoot is famous for its vibrantly coloured handloom fabrics.
